Options to try while choosing the Poker strategy
Each Poker strategy is the tactic that helps the player to collect the best cards and get a max prize. These techniques depend on the game variant:
- Video Poker;
- Tournament;
- Omaha;
- Texas Hold’em;
- 3 or 7 card Poker, etc.
However, the one thing is the same here: the gamer needs to get the better hand that his rival (or casino in Hold’em) has.
Video Poker
Video Poker strategy depends on the goal of a player. Often, one has the option of either taking risks, that is, the chance of a larger payoff with lower probability, or a smaller payoff with high probability. If the goal is to play as long as possible and have fun, then the strategy of high probability can be picked. When the casino user is looking for the big prize, he has to be prepared to take more risk.
Let’s say he plays Jacks or Better. He needs at least a pair of Jacks to make a profit. The payout rate for a single pair is 1: 1. The hand is J-T-7-5-3. In this situation, the biggest chance of winning is to bet on Jacks and hope to meet a couple. So, Jack can be held, and the rest cards must be changed.
The deck has 52 cards, five of which are used in the first draw. There are 47 cards left: 3 Jacks are winning cards, so the winning odds are 3/47. However, since the player can draw four times, the calculation looks like 3/47 x 4 = 25.53%. This is the chance of winning.
3 Card variant
The better the strategy, the lower the house advantage is. With the ideal 3 card Poker strategy, one plays only against 2-3% house advantage. It’s best to try the game for free. There is no reason to play for money from the beginning.
Due to the qualification rule for dealers, the decision to play or drop is particularly important here, because if the dealer does not qualify, the player wins even with bad cards.
Many players follow the blind rule, meaning they play every hand. From a mathematical point of view, however, this is unwise, as the house edge increases from less than 3% to around 7%. It is better to follow here the Q-6-4 rule. That means throwing off all hands that are worse than six-four-Queen.
Tournaments
The wisest Poker tournament strategy is to hold at the beginning of the tournament and play top hands only. When the blinds have reached a certain height, one should start playing using other cards. Once two-thirds of the players are eliminated, the gambler can risk more. Of course, these tips are relatively superficial. Any ambitious tournament player should deepen his knowledge through good Poker books.
