Being one of the most romanticized destination in the world, Bagan became one of the sought out destinations in Myanmar. This ancient town has been on my book for quite a while now, and after several discussions of new countries to visit, Myanmar became a top choice because the rawness, the beauty and the 2000+ Pagodas. And after traversing the tourist trail of Myanmar, Bagan became our last stop, us being true to the saying of Save the best for Last.

This town boast a great number of surviving Pagodas, Stupas, and Monasteries. You might think that Bagan is listed as one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites, unfortunately, a few years ago, UNESCO removed Bagan from its list due the governments failure to restore the damaged pagodas, and using modern materials which cause lots of flack from historians and preservationists. For what it’s worth, you shouldn’t think of this as a hindrance, even though the thought of its beauty alone makes it deserving of the title, you will definitely won’t care about that after having to experience the ancient city.

We’ve traveled for 3 days, climbing up several pagodas to catch the sunset, to be awed, to feel a trance emotion, to amazed by its history, and to sit down and soak up the last remaining rays of the sun on one of the most amazing places in the world, it’s a euphoric feeling in summary.

It’s perfect for the travelers of the unknown, for the seasoned backpackers, for the flash-packers or any other kind of human desiring to feel a brand new accomplishment. It does offer a great adventure, a playground with 2000 unique Pagodas graced by years of culture and religious events. You might feel a bit of templ-ed out after having to traverse the tourist trail, but Bagan is a unique piece of land. Its one of those places where a new persona can be defined, in case you’ve felt the euphoria it gives from all the experiences it has to offer.

Photographing Bagan is such an opportunity, and I hope I did well on it. You be the judge, here are my favorite photos of Bagan, curated for your visual pleasures.
